David became interested in photography at the age of seven when he went to London for a holiday with a borrowed camera. Nelson’s Column has never leaned over so far but a lifelong passion was kindled! Like Andy and Alys, David also went to the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth (but in the 1970s!) and then on to the University of Birmingham and a career in Engineering and IT. He is an experienced trainer, having lectured at undergraduate and postgraduate level and given presentations in the UK and overseas.
David learned his photography in the days before automatic cameras, so is very familiar with shooting in manual mode. Having travelled extensively for both work and pleasure, he is able to impart a wide range of experience of landscape and nature photography.
David has owned his own business since 2005 doing a mixture of Photography and IT Project Management. He bought his first digital camera in 2004. He uses Nikon equipment and specialises in portraiture and wildlife photography. David is a member of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers and the Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers.
